Olga Kossovich – Violin – Viola – Piano
Olga Kossovich began her teaching in 2013 in Moscow as an assistant to violin professor, Ara Bogdanyan, who was one of the famous students of David Oistrakh. She started teaching as his assistant at Moscow State Conservatory and then continued creating her own studio in United States. Throughout these years, Olga helped hundreds of students of all ages develop their violin skills and bring it to the next level. Her students were accepted in United states Universities with scholarships. As a teacher, Olga’s goal is to help any violin player develop their individual performance skills, fix any difficulties with techniques, and get rid of any tension that may appear in public performances.
Ms Olga also has a flourishing concert career where she has performed as a soloist with orchestras, as well as in chamber ensembles in some of the best Music Halls in Russia, Europe and United States. She has studied and participated in masterclasses with world class musicians, such as Pinchas Zukerman, Boris Kushnir, Ilia Kaler, Paul Kantor, Elmar Oliveira, Shlomo Mintz, Dmitry Berlinsky, Gerardo Ribeiro, Pavel Vernikov, Ara Bogdanian and many others. As a chamber musician, Olga has studied with members of Borodin String Quartet at the Moscow state Conservatory and has worked as a chamber instructor at the University of North Dakota.
She started her music education and violin lessons in preparatory classes at Central Music School in Moscow at the age of 4, and was accepted to the Central Music School in 2002. While studying at the Central Music School, she has performed multiple concerts across Russia and abroad. During her studies at the Central Music School, she participated in several competitions, including the UFAM Concours de Musique, Paris, France, in 2005 and 2006 where she won the 1st prize. She has won many national and international prizes, such as winner of the third prize in the Demidov International Youth Violin Competition DeMYuKS-V in Yekaterinburg, Russia (2009) and the XVII Togliatti International Competition for Musicians (2012). In 2013, she graduated from the Central Music School and entered the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory. During this time, she participated in the III Savely Orlov International Music Competition Festival (Samara, Russia, 2015, II prize) and the First Rudolf Gummert International Young Performers Competition (Kazan, Russia, 2017, II prize). While a student in the United States, she obtained prizes in the GGFSO Young Artist Concerto Competition (Grand Forks, ND, 2019, I prize), the BSO Young Artist Competition (Bismarck, ND, 2019, I prize) and the Thursday Musical Young Artist Scholarship Competition (St. Louis Park, MN, 2021, I prize). She is currently pursuing my Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University with Professor Gerardo Ribeiro.
