New AMI Instructor: Ayaka Sano, Violin
Ayaka Sano has been playing the violin since the age of 11. She attended the University of Georgia on a full scholarship and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music for her Master’s degree in Violin Performance. Teachers and mentors include Desirée Ruhstrat, Federico Agostini, Mark Kaplan, Sally Thomas, Chin Kim, Jonathan Carney, Levon Ambartsumian, Shakhida Azimkhodjaeva, and Noriko Konno Clift. She has had chamber coachings with members of the Pacifica Quartet, Cliff Colnot, Steven Rochen, Levon Ambartsumian, David Starkweather, Mark Neumann, and Kristin McCreery.
She has spent past summers at the IU Summer Orchestra Program, Meadowmount School of Music, International Music Institute & Festival, and Brevard Music Festival, where she was able to study with world-renowned musicians and pedagogues. She has performed solo and chamber music repertoire in Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, and Japan.
