Maddy Soldan – Winds – Piano

Madelyn Soldan is a dedicated music educator and performer with experience teaching students of different ages and skill levels. She earned her bachelor’s degree in PreK-12 Music Education from Elmhurst University. During her studies, she focused on flute performance and music education. She studied flute with Dr. Jennie Oh Brown and Marie Bennett.

While attending Elmhurst University, Madelyn performed with the Elmhurst University Wind Ensemble as a co-principal musician on flute and piccolo. She also performed with the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra and Women’s Chorus. In addition, she occasionally substitutes with the Southwest Symphony. These performance experiences have helped her develop a strong understanding of ensemble playing, musicianship, and performance preparation.

Madelyn was also actively involved in music education leadership at Elmhurst University. She served as President of the Illinois Collegiate Chapter of Music Education. She also worked as a Band Manager and Head of the Music Library. Her leadership roles gave her valuable experience supporting music programs and working with fellow musicians and educators. Madelyn also graduated as an Honors Program Global Scholar.

As an educator, Madelyn brings extensive classroom experience to her teaching. She currently serves as the band teacher at Clarendon Hills Middle School. In this role, she teaches students of various ages and experience levels. She also helps students develop their skills on different band instruments.

Madelyn’s teaching experience extends beyond instrumental instruction. She has experience conducting ensembles and exploring effective ways to support students in the music classroom. She has also presented research focused on accommodating students’ individual needs. Her approach emphasizes creating a supportive learning environment where students can develop confidence and musicianship.

At American Music Institute, Madelyn helps students build a strong foundation in music while encouraging their individual interests. Her background in flute performance, music education, and classroom teaching allows her to connect practical musicianship with engaging instruction.
