Henry Altenberg – Guitar / Piano / Violin / Drums

Henry Altenberg is an accomplished guitarist, pianist, violinist and drummer based out of Chicago. A graduate from Northeastern Illinois University (BM) with a major in Classical Guitar, he studied with Brian Torosian, performed with the grammy winning Los Angels Guitar Quartet, and performed in masterclasses with artists like Oscar Ghiglia and Steven Vasquez. He also worked closely with the NEIU Varsity Big Band jazz as a frequently featured soloist and rhythm section member on guitar and electric bass under the helm of both Mayo Tiana and Steve Duncan. His other studies include spending a year studying jazz guitar, drum set, and composition at Columbia College Chicago, attending the Berklee College of Music 5-week Performance Program in 2015, and Ithaca College’s Summer Music Academy in 2013.

As a professional performing and recording artist, he has worked extensively in musical theater pits, jazz, rock, pop and contemporary music groups, and as a solo guitarist.  With a passion for teaching, he has worked for CPS and Chicago private schools for one-on-one and group lessons, as well as Chicago Park Districts and numerous private studios across the city as an instructor of guitar, electric bass, piano, and drum-set. When he’s not playing or teaching, he enjoys biking, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
