Mezzo-soprano Georgia Jacobson has held positions as Music Faculty at Lake Superior College and Angeles Academy of Music in Los Angeles, California. A passionate performer and teacher, she actively commits to vocal and piano instruction while maintaining a vibrant performance career. In October 2024, she performed at the International Alliance of Women in Music conference at the University of Minnesota Duluth, showcasing her dedication to contemporary and culturally significant repertoire.

Georgia has collaborated with esteemed institutions, including the Metropolitan Opera, Aspen Music Festival, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Philadelphia Orchestra. Recent engagements include debuts with Kentucky Opera as Tisbe (La Cenerentola) and Maggie (The Gift of the Magi), and with Opera Santa Barbara, covering Lucilla (La scala di seta), and performing Margaret Johnson (The Light in the Piazza) and Waltraute (Die Walküre). She also appeared as Hannah After (As One) and Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana) with Lyric Opera of the North and was the mezzo-soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. Upcoming engagements include performing Mercedes in the Sioux City Symphony’s production of Carmen and joining the Vocal Arts Studio program at the Aspen Music Festival.

She made her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Chris Thile’s Attention and covered Virginia Woolf in the world premiere concert version of The Hours by Kevin Puts and Gregory Pierce with The Philadelphia Orchestra. She was to workshop The Hours at the Metropolitan Opera, but plans were canceled due to COVID-19. She debuted as Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the University of Cincinnati-CCM and premiered two song cycles commissioned by The Schubert Club, composed by Carol Barnett (Young/Old Witches, Bat) and Linda Kachelmeier (Lake Superior Songs). Other highlights include covering Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at Des Moines Metro Opera, where she previously covered Mary Johnson (Fellow Travelers).

Notable achievements include a Metropolitan National Council Encouragement Award in the South Carolina district (2021) and 1st Place in the National Opera Association’s 2020 Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition. Georgia has a special affinity for French repertoire and made her professional debut with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges as Maman/Tasse/La libellule under the baton of Maestro Louis Langrée. A dedicated advocate for new music, she has workshopped roles such as Virginia Woolf (The Hours), Ruth (Awakenings), and Vesta (Fierce) with Opera Fusion: New Works and Cincinnati Opera.

Committed to fostering music education, Georgia has taught private voice and piano lessons to students of diverse ages and abilities, emphasizing technical development and artistic expression in a supportive environment. Born in France and raised in northern Minnesota, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Master of Music and Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where she was a scholarship recipient and awarded the Sam Adams Award.
