Cameron Steuart – Violin / Cello / Bass / Piano / Guitar
Dr. Cameron Steuart received his PhD from University of Georgia. His approach to teaching begins with close listening, rather than following a preconceived method or a set progression of repertoire. Dr. Steuart believes that each student deserves their own unique introduction to the world of music.
As a performer he has experience in a wide range of repertoires. As a violinist he has appeared with the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra and the Amherst Early Music Festival Orchestra. On viola and cello, he has great deal of experience in chamber music, appearing in venues like the Fox Theatre of Atlanta. On the double bass Dr. Steuart regularly gigs in small and large jazz ensembles with an emphasis on music of the swing era through bebop. Dr. Steuart has also worked in many other genres that are not typically associated with orchestral strings. He led the Magpie String Band, a bluegrass quintet that appeared frequently in folk festivals across the D.C. area. In addition, he has worked as a session musician in pop, rock, and country music with producers like Noah Georgeson (The Strokes) and John Keane (R.E.M.)
