ChrisTopher A. Joyner – Voice (Tenor)

ChrisTopher Joyner – Voice is an up and coming new young artist and educator in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Known for his dramatic voice and fun-loving attitude, his performances made him enjoyable amongst the community and soon the world. After graduating high school in 2003, ChrisTopher entered Clark Atlanta University to further his education. There he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with a concentration in voice. During his matriculation, he participated in ensembles such as the Philharmonic Society (choir), The Mighty Marching Panther Band, Symphonic Band, and as well as the Opera Workshop.

Chris has placed in many vocal competitions sponsored by organizations such as The Metropolitan Atlanta Musicians Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. In Adams’ Opera of America, He has done roles such as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Kasper in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Tony in Westside Story. In 2005, Chris became a member of the AmeriColor Opera Alliance performing in 7 of the 10 operas written by founder Dr. Sharon J. Willis.

Graduating with honors in 2007, ChrisTopher began teaching in Metropolitan Atlanta serving as a Choral Director. Under his leadership, this program has gained a respected reputation on district and state levels; improving in membership retention and earning excellent and superior ratings in their Large Group Performance Evaluations. Remaining active as a musician, Chris sang with the Lawrence S. Weaver Chamber Chorale and the World Renowned Atlanta Boy Choir. While residing in Atlanta, he was very active within the music department of First Congregational United Church of Christ serving as Staff Tenor Soloist as well as participating in the Chancel Choir, Heritage Choir, Men’s Choir, and Handbell Choir.

Ultimately, ChrisTopher Joyner – Voice would like to have a career as a performer and to one day become a Doctor of Musical Arts. He is a 2013 graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Masters of Music Performance degree. While there he served as the graduate assistant to the choral department directing the University Chorus, participated in the Chamber Choir and sang in The Opera Theatre performing various roles such as Don José in Carmen, Autumn in The Fairy Queen, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore. Chris is a student of Myron Myers and is currently tenor section leader and soloist at Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville, IL.
