David DeVasto – Piano/Composition

David DeVasto received his Ph.D. at The University of Iowa in piano and composition. He currently teaches piano, composition, music theory at Elmhurst College. He also has served as a piano instructor, accompanist and adjudicator at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, and coordinator of the minor in music composition at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, where he taught composition, orchestration and piano.

Mr. DeVasto is an active clinician and adjudicator, having participated in IMEA, St. Louis Metro 8 All-District Jazz Band auditions, and the University of Iowa Summer Music Camps. He regularly presents his compositions in festivals across the country, including SCI, Electronic Music Midwest, The Iowa Composers Forum, Nevada Encounters of New Music, and The Electro-Acoustic Juke Joint. DeVasto has been featured as a pianist on two recent albums: Tim O’Dell’s Dreams of Pangea (Southport S-SSD 0127), and Tom Ott’s Living Language (Independent Release).
