Ashlyn Olson – Violin/Viola/Piano
Hailing from Connecticut, violinist Ashlyn Olson began her musical studies on violin and piano at the age of 4. She completed her Master’s degree at DePaul University in 2014 and her Certificate in Performance in 2016 where she studied with Ilya Kaler. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in string performance. Ashlyn was named the Boston University Presser Scholar which is awarded yearly to one student in honor of academic and musical achievements. In 2012, Ashlyn was twice the guest soloist with the Seven Hills Symphony in Worcester, Massachusetts. She currently performs in the Northbrook Symphony, Oistrakh Symphony, and Chicago Civic Orchestra. Also an accomplished violist, Ashlyn founded and performs with the Pavo Quartet. This string quartet was a finalist in the Plowman Chamber Music Competition in 2015 and has performed internationally as well as throughout the United States.
An avid teacher and coach, Ashlyn has received training from the Hartt School of Music and DePaul Community Division in the Suzuki method. She has coached at the ArtsAhimsa Chamber Music Festival in Lenox, MA for three summers as well as numerous other chamber music festivals. She is currently violin faculty and chair of the instrumental department at Belvoir Terrace, a summer arts program for girls.
