Jenna Hintz – Voice / Piano
Jenna Hintz, soprano, is a graduate of the Boston University Opera Institute and holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in vocal performance from the University of Illinois. She has recently returned to the area after living in New York City for the past 17 years where she was fortunate enough to combine her love of performing with her passion for teaching voice and piano. She has performed many
operatic roles, concerts and recitals throughout this country and internationally, as well as continually teaching, accompanying and coaching. She has been teaching piano and voice privately and through various schools, such as the University of Illinois, University of Connecticut Community School and Hartt School of Music, for over 20 years.
Jenna is experienced in working with many levels, styles and ages in both piano and voice. Not only does she believe in the importance of technique within the discipline of studying music, but she also hopes to instill in her students the passion and love of music that she herself found at an early age. By the age of 5, Jenna was studying piano and singing in the choir and she never stopped. Already an experienced musical theater performer by the time she entered college, Jenna was surprised to find that her voice was leading her into the operatic realm. Although she subsequently narrowed her focus to vocal performance, she found the years of piano lessons continued to be a valuable asset in learning music quickly as well as making it through difficult music theory and aural skills classes. She still performs regularly while at the same time finding immense fulfillment in passing along the fundamental elements of music, such as technique, theory and pedagogy, to her students. She
has been fortunate enough to not only watch her students grow and expand musically, but she also has seen firsthand the astounding effects a musical education can have on every aspect of a child or adult’s life.
